Ralf: Michael Should Have Switched On His Brain
Brother Ralf and Ferrari teammate Rubens Barrichello both criticized Michael Schumacher after Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix. In the final laps Michael overtook Barrichello for seventh place and almost hit Ralf’s Toyota as they went for the finish line. The other two drivers were not impressed with Michael’s driving.
“He (Michael) should have switched on his brain before trying that move,” Ralf told German television regarding his brother’s stunt as they headed for the line. “One millimetre more and one of us could be dead. Sometimes he’s just not right in the head.”
It’s not uncommon for Ralf to speak out against Michael but rarely does Barrichello have anything negative to say about his teammate. However, the Brazilian said he had words with Michael and Ferrari team principal Jean Todt.
In Michael’s words:
“Everything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong at the beginning.
I got stuck behind the Minardi that blocked the track and then I had
to pit to change the nose on the car. It is clear when you look at
the times that we had a very competitive race pace. It is a shame
that we were not able to get the most out of it. But, given
everything that happened, I have to be reasonably happy with my two
points. As for my move on Rubens, we are all here to race and I did
not think there was much risk involved in the move.â€
