A heart surgery that took 51 hours almost exhausted the stock of blood in the city of Londrina (PR).
In that period, were used about 400 units of blood, plasma and platelets, which represents a volume of blood exchanged in the patient at around 70 times.
The surgery was performed at the Evangelical Hospital of Londrina by Gregori Junior Francisco cardiologist.
The patient, the manager of sales Onivaldo Cassiano, 49, presented the clotting problem during the operation to treat an aneurysm (enlargement) in the aorta.
